Resumen:
During this presentation about women, coins and treasuries Jitske Jasperse demonstrates that medieval women's depictions on coins and seals can tell us much about the authority elite women held, thereby questioning the standard masculine reading often of coins and seals. Another way for these women to communicate their wealth and status, but also piety, was through the donation of sumptious objects to church treasuries. The donations of Infanta Sancha and Queen Leonor of Castile to San Isidoro in León reveal the crucial role of material culture and the many questions raised when studying it.
