Título: Science Serving Society: reflections on 4 years at the science-policy interface in Washington DC.
Resumen:
For the last four years, Dr. Lubchenco was the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA is the federal agency in the U.S. that is responsible for ocean health, weather forecasts and warning and climate science. As a scientific agency, NOAA does and funds science and it uses scientific knowledge to make policy, provide services and knowledge to Americans. In her role, she dealt with fishery management, climate science, oil spills, marine protected areas and weather forecasting. She will discuss how science is used and perceived in policy and management decisions.
